History Teaching Unlocked

Designed and delivered by outstanding History Leaders, this is a subject specific training course for secondary teachers of history. The programme is appropriate for secondary history teachers at all career stages but would be particularly useful for Early Career Teachers and those teachers who wish to familiarise themselves with some of the latest approaches and strategies being used in the history classroom.

Sessions:

All sessions will take place from 4:00pm - 5:15pm except the two Tuesday sessions these are 3:00pm - 4:30pm. via Google Meet on the following dates:

  • Session 2 Elizabeth: The must know knowledge! - Monday 13th November 2023

  • Session 3 How do you teach the ability range of your classes? Fight to Five and Climb to Nine- Wednesday 13th December 2023

  • Session 4 Pearson: Weimar and Nazi Germany - Thursday 11th January 2024

  • Session 5 Pearson: The difference between describe, explain and analyse - Tuesday 16th January 2024

  • Session 6 American West - Need to know narratives! - Monday 29th January 2024 

  • Session 7 Medicine - How to focus on the factors!  - Thursday 29th February 2024 

  • Session 8 How do you make this child better?  Feedback to feed forward. - Monday 18th March 2024

  • Session 9 Independent practice - What does this look like in the history classroom? - Thursday 20th June 2024
