  • Outwood Academy Ormesby Netherfield House, Tothill Ave, Netherfields, Middlesbrough TS3 0RH (map)

To receive your full blue card registration as a competent Safety Intervention Instructor trained member of staff you will have to undertake two separate stages of training:

Stage 1.  Blended Online Learning:

The units in the online blended learning theory course cover topics such as the crisis development model, verbal, effective non-verbal and paraverbal communication, Precipitating Factors, fear and anxiety, decision making and de-escalation strategies. The online blended learning can be accessed any time, but once registered would need to be completed in 90 days.

The CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) / Safety Interventions online blended learning programme will need to be accessed using a PC or a laptop (tablets or mobile devices are not compatible). Google Chrome is the prefered internet browser for this online programme.

When the online blended learning is completed, you will receive a certificate for the theory section but you are not yet fully competent to practice physical intervention holding techniques you need to progress to stage 2 as soon as you can (within 6 weeks is preferable).

Stage 2. Physical Interventions and holding techniques;

This is a 4 hour face to face course. The units in this section include a short recap to reinforce prior learning on theory with a focus on risk behaviour - disengagements and holding techniques using the CPI principals. During this stage of the course, you will also be informed how to follow Trust processes of recording information.

For this stage of learning, please wear appropriate clothing, flat comfortable shoes and remove any jewelry.

The cost of this programme is £28.90+VAT per person.

This course is for OGAT colleagues only.

*Please note; by registering to attend, you are registering for a place on the online blended learning course in the first instance. Face to face physical intervention and holding technique training does not take place on this date*
