Safer Recruitment Training

The trainer will use a slide show to discuss the four sections of the training and participants will be required to take part in the interactive activities, use the online questions and answers tool, and undertake the usual Safer Recruitment assessment.  Each section is aimed to last approximately 90 minutes with break times in between.

Experience over many years shows that it is important for organisations that provide services to children to incorporate into their recruitment and selection procedures, measures that help deter, reject or identify people who might abuse children, or who are otherwise unsuited to work with them.

Making safeguarding and promotion of the welfare of children an integral part of human resources (HR) management in organisations that work with children is an essential part of creating safe environments.

The safer recruitment workshop builds on those reports and recommendations. It aims to:

  • Give participants an awareness and understanding of offender behaviour.

  • Identify the key features of staff recruitment that help deter or prevent the appointment of unsuitable people.

  • Consider policies and practices that minimise opportunities for abuse or ensure its prompt reporting.

  • Help participants begin to review their own and their organisation’s policies and practices with a view to making them ‘safer’

The course is licensed by the National College for School Leadership and all delegates will receive a graded certificate based on an assessment carried out at the end of the session.

This will be delivered by NCTL accredited facilitators.

There is no cost for this event.

Before attending the Safer Recruitment Training, participants will be required to complete the online learning Safer Recruitment Training provided by Flick Learning as an introduction to Safer Recruitment.  This can be done any time before the Virtual Safer Recruitment Training.  It is a short 42 minute online course that provides an introduction to:
